Thousands of people skip work and school on May Day against bill HR4437 : NM IMC

El Lunes pasado por la tarde, primero de Mayo, nos encontramos en la plaza Civic (3rd y Tijeras) esperando la mobilizacion que se movia hacia nosotros desde el Parque Tiguex (en la 18 y Mountain). Pasada la 6 de la tarde en la plaza Civic, el clima que se vivia era de ansias para la lleguada. Habia una banda de gente esperando con nosotros. Tenia banderas, carteles hechos en casa, remeras con frases alentadoras, etc. Esperamos con cameras para documentar la gran entrada de el grupo marchando. Cuando finalmente arrivaron la energia de la multitud se desplego. La plaza quedo inundada de gente; todos alegres, cantando y disfrutando por esta historica ocasion. Entre los canticos de protesta, resaltaba un grupo de bailarines, y tambien tuvo un gran protagonismo algunos grupos que divertian a la gente formando piramides humanas (y callendo). Como la marcha anterior por los derechos del inmigrante, en esta, la gente tambien asistio vestida de blanco, en senal de paz, y cumpliendo con el boicott internacional. Hasta bien tarde en la noche, se podria escuchar y observar pequenos grupos de manifestantes. La jornada fue pacifica, no hubo mayores disturbos, salvo un pequeno grupo de neo-Nazis que se presentaron en la plaza con carteles en contra de los inmigrantes y banderas de los EEUU. Pese a todo, no hubo problemas, le gente estuvo feliz, energica, y unida.

This May Day, the people found themselves in Albuquerque Civic Plaza (3rd and Tijeras) awaiting the demonstrations that were coming from Tiguex Park (18th and Mountain), where the gathering had started. By 6pm more people had already converged at Civic Plaza awaiting the march from Tiguex Park. Flags and homemade banners flew while defiante t-shirts read messages such as Unidos sin Fronteras (United without Borders). When they arrived, the energy of the multitude spread throughout. The Plaza was full of people; all powerful, singing and enjoying this historic occasion. In the midst of demonstrations and chants was a troop of Aztec dancers, and other groups of people that entertained by forming human pyramids (and falling down). Similar to the recent march for Immigrant rights, people were dressed in all white, a sign of peace, and fulfilliment of the international boycott. Until very late at night, you could hear and observe small groups of spontaneous demonstrations.

The day's activities went peacefully, with the exception of a small gathering of neo-Nazis in the Civic Plaza carrying anti-Immigrant banners and U.S. Flags. In spite of all, there were no problems, the people were happy, energetic, and united.
